Richmond Annex holds a special place in my heart because it feels like a small town island. It’s geographically separated from the rest of Richmond, sitting right next to El Cerrito, and it has this incredibly charming, walkable vibe.
The houses here are mostly 1940s bungalows—small, sturdy, and full of character. I love that you can walk to things here. You’ve got the Natural Grocery Company, coffee shops, and restaurants right on the edge of the neighborhood. It’s one of the few places where you don't necessarily need to hop in the car for every single errand.
It’s also a commuter’s dream. You are smack in the middle of two BART stations and right by the freeway entrance. If you want a walkable, friendly neighborhood with a lot of charm, the Annex is the spot.
